Dominic Zaki

Dominic Zaki was born 2nd son of the late Ted Zaki, who was always a stout supporter of the game. Dominic took a very early shine to the game that has now seen him one of South Africa’s top 5 trainers countrywide. He trained for many years as a private trainer, training just for his late father, but when His father sadly passed away, Dominic took out his full trainer’s license.

Dominic believes his family plays a big part in his life, he is married to Beverley and has 3 daughters, Savannah, Montana and Electra. Beverley is actively involved in the financial side of the stable, administering all the accounts for the yard. A top racehorse trainer needs an understanding and loving family which Dominic certainly is very lucky to have.

Dominic has worked with some of the top trainers in the country and names Ormonde Ferraris as his mentor. Dominic’s first feature winner was Jacaranda House who won the CT Brand within 3 weeks of Dominic taking out his license. As you can see in the graph below, 2005/06 was a fantastic year for the stable, with the likes of National Spirit winning Grade 1 Gold Challenge.
